Surgical Services Rep

Job Summary:
Under general direction, with minimal direct supervision, performs a wide range of functions related to the boarding of surgical cases, accurate charge entry and utilization of OR resources and maintaining Centricity computer network and database.
Primary Job Duties:
1. Under general direction, with minimal direct supervision, performs functions related to the computer boarding of surgical cases which address privileges, suspension lists, equipment conflicts and the completion of pertinent data (address, insurance numbers, etc.)
2. Maintains fiscal responsibility with accurate charge entry and efficient utilization of operating room resources.
3. Maintains Centricity computer network and database with quick, accurate data entry and retrieval with understanding and ability to problem solve.
4. Provides for the coordination of required surgical patient information between departments that facilitates efficient and timely patient flow. Coordinates training of other surgical services representatives.
5. Maintains commitment for self-growth and professional development. Attends all mandatory safety education and training in-service programs; conducts work operations in a safe manner following regulatory requirements and reports all safety hazards to Manager and/or Safety Director or Chairperson.
6. Attends work on schedule.
7. Demonstrates Service Excellence.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years clerical experience in a healthcare environment
LICENSURE: None
SKILLS: Minimum 35 wpm typing with word accuracy, spreadsheet and word processing proficiency, knowledge of medical terminology requires (surgical terminology preferred), problem solving, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to function well in stressful situations and deal with difficult individuals.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
