Mechanic

Inspect/ diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul truck tractors and trailers, repair and maintain diesel and other engines and equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring Rush equipment is properly maintained to ensure maximum performance and fuel economy and to enhance the useful life of the asset.
Effectively informs and involves others on issues/actions with mutual impact; is accountable for follow through and communication to others.
Completes duties and assignments timely, thoroughly and accurately, checks own work to ensure error free execution.
Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists to safely manipulate machinery and equipment under inspection or repair.
Adjusts and repairs brakes. Adjusts and tightens bolts and screws and reassembles equipment.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance including but not limited to oil changes, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
Attach test instruments to equipment; read and interpret output to diagnose malfunctions or identify improvements.
Inspect test and repair full range of operational components such as pumps, compressors, ignition systems, lights and instrument panels.
Diagnose and repair heating and cooling systems.
Install aftermarket enhancements designed to improve safety and/or fuel economy.
Inspect and repair trailers.
Seeks solutions to unexpected problems, acts promptly and decisively; uses job and industry knowledge and experience to make practical decisions about course of action.
Encourages drivers to use qualcomm, to keep qualcomm units in working order and facilitates repairs to units when necessary.
Documents work performed in compliance with Rush Maintenance policies and procedures.
Is uniformly courteous and respectful to drivers, co-workers, customers, vendors and the public. Responds professionally to non-professional communications of others. Resolves conflict, work issues and personal work related concerns in a manner that strengthens the team. Strives for consensus and mutual understanding.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Demonstrated passion for quality work
Ability to effectively use a computer-based work order tracking system
Must be able to perform safely in the shop and be able to lift 50 pounds to eye level
Must be able to communicate orally with a person six to ten feed away, diagnose mechanical failures that are distinguished audibly, visually decipher an oscilloscope monitor and digital/analog meter and scan tool displays
Must be able to understand information found in service repair manuals and use diagnostic flow charts.
Preferred:
Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic License
Minimum 1 year experience
Valid driverā s license with CDL endorsement required to test drive equipment



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
